Field Notes

Grim Discovery At Local Beauty Spot

A local couple out walking their dog last week were shocked to discover human remains in Croome Park. Ledbury resident, Tom Farlow, and his wife had deviated from their usual route after it became water- logged following recent torrential storms.

Mr Farlow, a National Trust member who regularly exercises his two year old Cocker Spaniel, Tousle, in the park commented, "in all honesty we had got ourselves a bit lost on the western edge of the Park near the motorway. Tousle took herself off into a copse and just stood there barking like mad, It was when I went to fetch her that I saw the half hidden skeleton. I am still in shock".

Police Inspector Gretton in a written statement reported that enquiries were at an early stage, but initial investigations indicated that the body had been there for some considerable time, possibly a few years. At this stage no foul play is suspected, and no other persons are being sought in connection with the incident, but police are keeping an open mind until full forensic reports are received.
